How To Wear Black For The Holidays!

Wearing black doesn't have to be boring or reminiscent of a solemn occasion! The holidays are actually the best time to employ some sleek and chic black outfits that are fun, sexy and festive!

Here's HOW:

The Casual Black

One of my favorite outfits to wear during the holiday season is an oversized sweater/chunky sweater dress . It's fun, easy to throw on and when I go whole hog on Christmas dinner, I don't need to unbutton a thing. Big points here. One of the ways I love to wear it, is with a pair of sexy thigh-high boots. Sleek boots offset the chunkiness of the sweater; offering a flattering shape to the entire look (they also make your legs look super svelte and twice as long)!

You can also swap out these thigh-highs for over-the-knee boots, if you want to show a little skin! But, I personally love the fact that the thigh-highs make it look like one outfit. x

Extra Holiday Points:

As we know, headbands are making a comeback (my 12 year old self would approve). So, I recently snagged this little vintage-inspired headband on Amazon. Sweet + merry, I love that it's simple, yet a standout.

Paired with my metallic Stella McCartney bag, they are both the perfect items to help to pop a casual, all-black ensemble.

This look is a playful, daytime vibe!

Amazing for an upcoming family gathering or a celebratory afternoon shindig. x

Ok. This outfit is me all day . A cami, blazer + jeans? HEAVEN. But, not just any cami, blazer + jeans:

A soft, silky cami paired with a plush, velvet blazer and a midnight, black jean (currently on sale until tomorrow!) all come together to create an effortless look. The key here is mixing elevated textures.

Silk/Satin = Sexy + Effortless

Velvet = Sophisticated + Holiday-inspired

Solid Denim = Polished + Chic

Extra Holiday Points:

Although you can wear the blazer opened or closed, I went a step further to add a solid, white-pearled Gucci belt, for the open look, to disturb any kind of monotony in this all-black number.

Finally, I added a red lip because, a red lip with this outfit must happen. It's just too good.

(How to find your perfect red lip here)!

Finish off the look with some classic Louboutin Kates and you're golden.

If I could make this my uniform, I would.

Incredible for a holiday luncheon, a work party or evening drinks!

You can never go wrong with a good ol' little black dress. Find the right one and you've got a fancy back-up outfit for dinner, weddings or soirees taken care of. I happen to be a huge fan of this one from House Of CB paired with these Stuart Weizman Stilettos:

This may not be your typical LBD since it comes down to the knee, but this particular style can be universally flattering. With the sheer tulle ruching, slimming length + cold-shoulder tease, it's a knockout for the holidays.

What I love the most about the concept of a little black dress is that, it isn't about the dress.

It's about the body attribute that you'd like to highlight.

Getting strategic is the key:

Choose one main attribute to draw the sole focus to; if it's your legs, go for a shorter dress.

Your décolletage? Do an off-the-shoulder look (like this one) - it works stunningly.

If you're in love your arms, go for a sleeveless number or try strapless, if you want to show off a sexy back!

Extra Holiday Points:

Since less is always more with an LBD (again, the focus should be on you!), I like to keep it simpler. But, to help give it a little more oomph for the season, I love using stand-alone, unique jewelry pieces to accentuate. Recently, I've been into these Sachi Inverted Hoops below (grab an extra 10% off with the code: GB10 )!

I love how original + dainty they are which helps to create an over-all softer look:

Then, I like to add a little cat-eye liner (not sure which style to try? Consider any one of these!) and you are off to paint the town red!

A little black dress is excellent for a cocktail party or festive soiree!

So, pull out the black pieces in your closet and have a ball! There are so many ways to elevate your darker pieces while enabling YOURSELF to be the star that shines! 😍✨

Wishing you all the coziest Christmas + happiest New Year. x
