O Brother Where Art Thou Stay Out of the Woolworths

  • "Oh, George...not the livestock."
  • "I 'spect some miscegenation in they he'itage! Usin' a Confed'charge per unit flag as a miss-ile!"
  • "84 years erstwhile." "...Well, I'll only be 82!"

    Pete: "You! Ruined! My LIFE!!"

Everett: *choking* "Now, I practice repent 'bout that, Pete."

  • "Damn! We're in a tight spot!"
    • "Damn! We're in a tight spot!"
      • "Damn! We're in a tight spot!"
  • "We're gonna R-U-North-N-O-F-T!"
  • "Gopher, Everett?"
    • "No thanks, Delmar. A third of a gopher would but rouse my appetite without bedding her dorsum down."
  • "Them si-reens washed loved 'im up and turned him into a horny-toad!"

Everett: I'm not sure that's Pete.
Delmar: Of course it's Pete! Expect at him!... We gotta discover some kind of magician to change him back!"

  • "We idea y'all was a t... toad!" "Wuh...?"
    • ... "Practise. Non. SEEK. THE TREASURE."
  • "Thank God your mammy died givin' nascency — if she'd a' seen ya', she'd a' died a' shame!"
  • Everett's fist fight. Nuff said.
    • "And stay out of the Woolworths!"
    • And then, when they're bringing Pete upwards to speed on what he missed since they got separated, Delmar mentions them getting kicked out, and then asks if they're just banished from the 1 store or from all of them.
  • "Well, the ii of us was fixin' to fornicate!" (Cue the bad-mannered, misunderstanding waitress.)
  • "I don't go it, Large Dan."
    • "IT'S ALLLLL Near THE Coin!"
  • This commutation with the bullheaded seer:

Delmar: You work for the railroad, Grampa?

Blind Seer: I work for no man.

Delmar: Got a name, do you?

Blind Seer: I have no proper name.

Everett: Well, that right at that place may be the reason you've had difficulty findin' gainful employment.

  • "You sold your immortal soul to the devil for some gittar lessons?" "Well, I wasn't using it for naught..."
    • Followed by:

Everett: Well, ain't it a small-scale earth, spiritually speaking? Pete and Delmar just been baptized and saved. I guess I'yard the only one that remains unaffiliated.

  • "You 2 are simply dumber than a bag of hammers."
  • "Gimme that microphone! These boys is not white! These boys is not white! Hell, they ain't fifty-fifty erstwhile timey!"
    • "Damn! Nosotros're in a tight spot!"
    • "Is you is, or is you own't mah cunstichensy?" note "constituency", if you didn't get it.
  • Everett, Pete, and Delmar catch up to a train, with Everett hopping into an open door and encountering some weathered hobos.

Everett: Say, whatever of you boys smithies?

    (Delmar jumps into the train)

Everett: Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances...

Everett: ...forced yous into a life of aimless wandering?

(Everett falls on his front and gets dragged astern out of the door, along with Delmar)

    • The look on his face every bit he's dragged out.
  • As Pappy's return bid for governor begins to go downhill thank you to Stokes:

Crony #1: Wellll, it's a well-run campaign. Midget, and broom, an' whatnot.
    Crony #2: Devil his due.
Crony #one: HELL of an organization.
Junior O'Daniel: Say... I got an ide'.
    Crony #ii: What's that, Junior?
Junior: Nosotros could hire us a picayune fella fifty-fifty smaller'northward Stokes's!
Pappy: (Incensed, slapping Junior with his hat) You lot slump-shouldered sack a' guts! Nosotros'd look similar a buncha Johnny-come up-latelies, braggin' on our own midget — no Matter how stumpy!

  • "Looks like George is right back on elevation again!"
  • "The Color Guard is colored! [Beat] Who made them the Color Guard?!"
    • It's the way he says the second half of the line, as if there were some sort of administrative error or a mix-up in the paperwork somewhere along the line.
  • "That ain't your daddy, your daddy got hitting by a train!"

    "Blewie!"
    "Nothin' left."
"Only a grease spot on the L&N!"

  • "That don't make no sense!"
    • "It's a fool that looks for logic in the chambers of the man eye."
  • Pappy'south subordinates' conversation about Homer Stokes, and the slow glare Pappy gives them as they keep talking:

"He's gonna paddle our niggling behind."
"Ain't gonna paddle it - gonna kicking it. Existent hard."
"No, I believe he'south gonna paddle it."
    "I don't believe that'due south a proper clarification."
"Well, that'due south how I'd characterize information technology."
"I believe it's more of a kickin' sitchiation."

  • The cow.
  • Pete'due south reaction when he get-go hears the Sirens. Words tin can't practise it justice.

    "Pull over! Pull over!"

  • The fact that Know-Nix Know-Information technology-All Everett tin't say the word "accompanist", but Pete tin can.
  • Everett trying to get auto parts and pomade and finding out they'll take the aforementioned fourth dimension to arrive:

Everett: Well ain't this place a geographical oddity! 2 weeks from everywhere!
